My Story

My football journey started at the age of 8 playing for my local village team in Essex, called Hatfield Peverel FC. I was there for 5 years playing as a centre back and got invited to Ipswich Town FC for a day to train. Unfortunately it never went anywhere and then moved to Northamptonshire when i was 13. I played football at school only up to the age of 16 before finding an adult team in Findeon Volta from the age of 17. I played many positions there in my time across 10 plus seasons including all positions on the pitch in one of the seasons.

My coaching journey started around the corner from Finedon Volta at Finedon Vics where a work collegue of mine got me involved with helping him coach youth football. This is where i got the bug for coaching and moved onto set up my own club at the age of just 20. This went well for a year or so but my inexperience in running a club at the time didnt allow me to continue it after just a few years. When i moved to Corby i found a team for my step daughters and eventually got into helping the eldest all girls team, before coaching the youngest step daughters team up to u16s.

In 2017 I created the club i currently volunteer at and built it in memory of our daughter Lacey-Mae Hope Ruth Carley. With originally just a mens team and the youngest step daughters team playing their final year at u16s. Since 2017 the club has grown a little and now has players from under 6s to u12s (2022/23 season) I currently coach the under 7s and under 12s but also help with all the other age groups when needed.

I have done my qualifications via the FA Learning and currently hold my level 2 Coaching Qualification (or as its known now UEFA C Licence). I have plans to apply for my UEFA B licence and also looking into Coerver Coaching Methods to aid my knowledge in coaching more individual skills and ball mastery.
